January 13th was a big day.....Justin turned 30! His mom and I planned a surprise party last week and it worked perfectly! Justin and I went to dinner at the Melting Pot after getting off of work on Friday. When we arrived home everything was dark as normal. When we walked up the stairs he was completely surprised and thought someone had broken into his house. His grandparents were even able to make it from Kansas and Michigan. Thank you to everyone that was able to make it! We had a lot of fun!
Justin and I had a bit of a debate on whether or not to have an aisle runner. Our wedding will be indoors, but I think it will look nice to have an aisle runner that is not white. Everything i found has been so expensive. Over the weekend while at a fabric store, Justin found vinyl table cloth with the damask pattern by the roll. I think it will be perfect. It is heavy duty to walk on and the perfect pattern. We just need to figure out how much we need. We bought 14 yards, but we'll be able to use if for other things. We also bought black vinyl that we can use for the tables. I have decided that I want to use the damask theme for everything we do pertaining to the wedding. For everyone that scrapbooks, you know that it can get tiring doing the same theme or colors over and over again. As a result, I have decided to use the black and white damask but change the color for every event. For example the bridal shower will be a color other than turquoise and the rehearsal dinner will be a completely different color, etc. That way we can use the black table cloths and damask table runner for everything and my scrapbook pages will all be different colors.
We have chosen turquoise with a black and white damask pattern as our wedding color/theme. I am so excited about it. Justin has found a couple of articles that say turquoise is the color for 2010. That is a bit of a bummer, but it will also help when looking for turquoise colored things. So far I haven't had a problem finding damask things. Below are decorative boxes which I am thinking of using for a card box and also a cake stand. We are trying to stay cheap with the cake....more to come on that. We also found damask tin mini buckets that we aren't sure what to do with yet. Maybe party favors or decorations. I've found paper napkins, paper lantern lights, re-usable shopping bags (with Jessica's help), a photo board and fabric.

Over the weekend Justin and I made a trip to Breckenridge with our friends John and Jen. We were able to do a little bit of skiing/snowboarding; although it was very cold on Friday. After making a few runs on the slopes Saturday we all came back to the condo to relax and get ready to go out for the lighting of the tree. That was a lot of fun!
Justin and I are looking forward to many more ski trips this season!

With school and everything else that has been going on I have neglected to get save the date cards/emails out to everyone. It is still something I would like to do, but in the mean time, I will post it here. Justin and I are getting married on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Bella Sera Event Center in Brighton, CO. In planning so far, we have contracted the venue and photographer. What more do you need for the big day, right?? NO! Next on our list is the DJ, officiant and cake.
Last week we made some progress with my dress. Justin's mom and my sister and mom were nice enough to give their opinions on some dresses that I had picked out. I found THE ONE and purchased it last week. I would love to show pictures on here, but Justin and I have decided that he is not going to see it until the big day.
Our colors are Turquoise and the black and white damask pattern.
I can't really complain about planning. It has been fun and Justin has been a huge help with everything. Things are coming along nicely!
The count down is on! Less than one year.
